Inclusion Criteria

Minimum age of 18 years.
Diagnosis of visually significant cataract and scheduled for routine cataract surgery at UPMC with a clear corneal incision or
scheduled for clinical repair of a full-thickness corneal laceration.

Exclusion Criteria

Prior history of full-thickness corneal laceration from trauma or from a surgical procedure
Current diagnosis of glaucoma or use of ocular hypotensive drops or oral aqueous suppressants.
Actively being treated for the diagnosis of dry eyes with a topical drop other than artificial tears.
Actively taking oral or topical supplementation of Vitamin C.
Scheduled for additional eye surgeries, combined with the routine cataract surgery.
Surgical plan that would include incisions in the clear for cataract extraction.
Inability to provide informed consent due to suspected head trauma, altered mental status, or other factors impairing decision-making capacity.
